AERO Friedrichshafen 2009

02-05 April 2009 Friedrichshafen, Germany
International Trade Exhibition for General Aviation – Europe’s Number 1 Industry Fair

Once again, Aeromnia participated in the aeronautical fair at Friedrichshafen, this year called AERO 2009. We had a good look round the various stands, both to see what was new, and to salute many of our usual suppliers, and make acquaintance with some new ones too.

Among those we met was the chief editor of the the Romanian publication “Pilot Magazin” Mrs. Raluca GrinÅ£escu with whom we have collaborated in the past (and hopefully also in the future). We made some plans for the publication of an article about the AvMap GPS units, for which Aeromnia are the distributors in Romania.

From time to time, strange things occur – later this year (from the 6th to the 14th of June) the World Air Games, a sort of Olympics of the Air, will take place in Turin, and when we were introduced to Constantin Voicu, director of the Romanian National Aeroclub and President of the Romanian Aeronautical Federation, we also found the ideal person with whom to discuss our idea of having a Romanian delegation at the World Air Games. We would very much like to bring the recently-built replica of the Vlaicu II to Torino. This, although faithful to the original design, including its push-pull prop system and steering-wheel controls, is a non-flying version, although fully capable of being taxied. And considering that soon we will celebrate the centenary of Vlaicu’s first flight, this seems the ideal occasion to bring to people’s attention some of the little-known history of Romanian aviation.

Thanks to Mr Voicu, we have been able to set up a meeting with the relevant Air Ministry authorities in Bucharest, Here we will try to work out a programme for transferring the machine to Turin, and arranging for a team to accompany and operate it under Aeromnia coordination. We take this as a great compliment to our company being entrusted with this responsibility and will be doing our very best to ensure that the visit of the Romanian team is equally memorable and .successful

Still in this happy frame of mind, we came across our old friends from the Regional Air Service, who were also here at the fair to present their latest service offers. We made plans to see each other again in Tuzla in August and wished them well for the future.

So as the fair drew to its close, we could only say that this has been a very successful fair for Aeromnia and we are looking forward to the next edition – AERO 2010.
